One of the best ways to restore your smile to something that you are confident with is dental bonding. Dental bonding is one of the most popular services here at Philadelphia Dentistry because it is fast and affordable. If you are unfamiliar with dental bonding it is defined as placing a simple attachment of composite resin to the surface of your tooth or teeth that you want fixed to give it an all-natural, healthy look.

If you are dealing with issues like gaps or spaces between your teeth, teeth that are too short or chipped, tooth discoloration and even broken teeth, then dental bonding can change your life! At Philly Dentistry, we can almost always do same day treatment for dental bonding and get you that smile you’ve always wanted. When you come in to our Center City, Philadelphia office one of our excellent doctors will take a look and let you know exactly what the best option is for you to restore your smile. If it’s bonding then we will fix your smile as soon as possible! Your dental bonding has the strength to last up to 10 years as long as you take care of it just like your natural teeth. Patients should avoid chewing anything hard like candies, ice and other possibly harmful foods.

The process of dental bonding is very simple. Our doctors will show you a shade guide to make sure that the composite resin being used will match exactly to your natural teeth. They will then apply, mold and shape the resin to your teeth for a natural looking perfect smile. The composite resin is then hardened by a special light and then finally polished and smoothed for a flawless finish.

To all those Millennial’s out there or as someone would define the group as anyone born from 1981 to 1996 you need to continue reading this blog! Millennial’s are the future in shaping this beautiful planet of ours, but this generation needs some help with their dental hygiene habits.

Recently, two thousand millennial’s were surveyed and the results were shocking! The survey reported that three out of ten millennial’s brush their teeth only once a day. That’s not even the most shocking part, many reported that they go two days at a time without brushing! More than half of the millennial’s were concerned about losing their teeth because they had a fear of going to the dentist.

Now let’s take a look at what’s wrong with millennial’s dental health. First off, the American Dental Association or ADA recommends that you brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes and floss at least once a day to keep up with your oral health. By doing this you help fight against any harmful bacteria or plaque that will build up over time and cause you pain and discomfort. Maintaining these healthy habits will keep you in good oral health, but it’s also very important to visit your dentist every 6 months for a routine exam and check-up.

“This place is awesome, my friend recommended me there and my first visit was wonderful with everyone, they made sure I was taking care of, I was running from dentist to dentist because of fear and lots of other different reasons, but now I found a home where I am comfortable, thanks everyone in Philadelphia Dentistry. I will be recommending them to anyone I come across that needs a dentist.”

“I was recommended here by a friend who is also a client. I was able to get in as new client the day after I called and had my procedure the following week. I am terrified of dentists, thus the reason I don’t go like I should, but they didn’t shame me. Instead they understood and will help me to get over my fears. If I was staying in Philadelphia longer, I’d definitely go back.”

“Have been a patient with this practice for 13 years. Can’t imagine going anywhere else. Very efficient. Always on time. Always up to date with latest procedures / techniques. Love their use of technology to communicate and scheduling appointments. Any time you call they answer immediately and are always friendly and accommodating. JEN IS THE BEST! Always informs me of what’s going to happen next. Takes time to explain procedures and listens when I have issues/ concerns. Highly recommend this practice.”

Smiling is a powerful thing and it usually is the result of something positive that is happening in your life. Whether things are looking up or looking down, the power of smiling can help you in many ways. When you show off those nice pearly whites you raise chemicals in your body that can help produce positive emotions, even when you’re feeling down in the dumps. Even forcing a smile when times are tough can help you get through a difficult situation.

Here are a few ways smiling can better your life.

By smiling more you are reducing the stress in your life. Even if you’re the happiest person in the world everyone deals with some type of stress. You’re probably thinking why in the world would I smile in a stressful situation, but that may be exactly what you need to help get through it. A study by Psychological Science, Tara Kraft and Sarah Pressman discovered that smiling will reduce your heart rate during a stressful encounter. When you smile something called serotonin is released which is a natural stress reducer in the brain. This study shows that even if you have to force a smile in a stressful situation that will help you out in difficult situation.

This is a no brainier, but smiling will increase your happiness. It’s simple when you smile, you’re most likely happy. A neurologist, Dr. Isha Gupta states that when you smile it creates a chemical reaction in your brain that produces dopamine. When you are depressed you have low dopamine levels and when you are happy your dopamine levels are high. Life can throw you challenges good or bad, but if you take on those challenges and obstacles with your head held high and a smile on your face then you will have a better perception of what is going on.

Did you know that smiling can improve your pain tolerance? Although, smiling on its own is not scientifically linked to a higher pain tolerance, but adding a smile or laughter to your pain will make your discomfort a little better. After reading this blog you now know a little bit about how powerful your smile can be. If you are not happy with your smile then it’s time for a change. It’s never too late to get that smile you always wanted. Whether it’s a general cleaning and check up or something cosmetic, Philly Dentistry is the place for all your dental needs. Give us a call today at 215-568-6222 or send us an email at info@phillydentistry.com and if you’re feeling ambitious you can follow us on social media @phillydentistry to stay up to date with all the news at our office. Summer time is for smiling and if you are not satisfied with your smile, it’s time to come to Philly Dentistry! During the whole month of June take advantage of our monthly special of $1,000 off your set of 8 veneers. Porcelain veneers can completely change your smile for the best. If you have any dental problems like stains, chips, cracks, gaps, or even slightly misaligned teeth then veneers can take those imperfections and turn your smile into perfection!

First things first, what are porcelain veneers? Think about how thin a contact lens is and that is how thin your porcelain veneer will be. They are extremely thin, but extremely strong and can last up to 15 years, if you have good oral hygiene and make sure you’re getting your routine cleanings and check-ups every 6 months. Each veneer is custom-made to improve your specific smile so you have the best natural looking smile makeover. The thin porcelain veneers will go over your original teeth to improve any dental problem you may be suffering with, it’s that easy!

Are porcelain veneers right for me? If you are interested in treating your smile with a more permanent solution then veneers are a great choice for you. The only requirement a patient needs to get porcelain veneers is that they are healthy enough to support them. So, if a patient has any cavities or gum disease, they will need to be treated for that before they can get the porcelain veneers.

    Jaelen Strong Veneers

Check out what our patients had to say about us and their porcelain veneers, “I wanted to take a brief moment to express how happy your work has made my life. A few months ago, you outfitted my teeth with porcelain veneers in your dental office in Philadelphia. Getting porcelain veneers was undoubtedly the most important and rewarding decision I have ever made in my life. I was so unhappy with the appearance of my teeth and the first impression they made on people. Today, that has all changed. After the procedure, my family could not believe the difference and immediately noticed how much more I smile. My friends could not quite put their finger on what had changed but only that I looked great and always seemed happy…I do not believe that I could have made a great Best Man speech without the confidence I have been given having such a wonderful smile. I do not think I will ever truly be able to convey how happy I am and what you have been able to do for me. Eternally grateful.”

Schedule your free new patient consultation with Philly Dentistry today to see if you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers. In just 2 easy visits you can completely change your smile into your dream smile. Don’t be embarrassed anymore with your teeth, we are here to help make Philly smile, one patient at a time!
